School Council

For many years, Alderton Junior School has had an active and fruitful school council.

Every class in the school goes through a simple voting process at the beginning of every term. The children vote for one boy and girl from their class who represent the classes´ views and ideas at the council meetings.

Two year six children are voted to be the permanent members for the whole year. These two very important members are given extra responsibility of chair person and secretary. Council meetings are usually held every fortnight.

In the past, the school council has been involved in important changes to do with the overall running of the school. For example, improving play and lunch times, helping with the redecoration of the toilets, designing markings on the playground, the writing of the playground rules, the monitoring of school dinners and improving behaviour at playtimes.
