Reach for the Stars
At Alderton we like to celebrate success at all levels.
We operate a House system where children can gain points for their House by working hard, showing good manners, being helpful and producing good work, as well as for sporting achievements.
Once a week we have a Star assembly where a couple of children from each class may be selected by a member of staff to receive a "Star of the week" for something outstanding they have achieved during the week.
Children´s good work may also be displayed around the school.
House Groups
We have four different house groups in our school - Nelson, Hudson, Drake and Scott (all famous historical figures known for outstanding achievements). Each house competes for house points. House points can be earned in various ways including: working hard in class, showing good manners and having a positive behaviour. There is a cup that each house has the opportunity to win based on the amount of house points earned. Each house has two games captains (boy and girl) and two house captains (boy and girl). They are voted in by their house members.
In class, each teacher will have their own merit system, as well as giving House Points. Around the school, we like to share children's good work by putting as much up on display as possible.
